Modern Horse Training – Pt. 4

‘Last month we left our pupil at the stage of teaching the resisting and more difficult horse to back. If he did not start to back with pressing on his chest the best thing to do is to start training as though he did back. This is the next step of training for either type. Still standing facing your pupil take one rein in each hand as in starting to back. Take a short step forward and to one side, at the same time tighten the rein on the side you moved to and keep the other rein slightly snug. This entire action should be made in such a way that it should have caused your pupil to turn slightly back. Now REPEAT this action only to the opposite side’
