By Mrs. Anne Speight, Cairns, Alta.
‘Even such inanimate objects as trains, trucks, and cars, if left without brakes set, will go out of control and hurtle their steel might down inclines to wreak havoc on all in their path. Since men first used animals as a way of transportation, there have always been runaways. No doubt Indians had runaways with their travois, while husky dogs often leave their Eskimo drivers many miles from home. A runaway with oxen was a humorous spectacle, although very maddening.’
