Fort Normandeau – A Link with Red Deer’s Pioneer Days

‘There was consternation among the little handful of settlers at the Red Deer Crossing, when, about sundown on April 7th a horseman came dashing across the river from the north to tell them that the Indians had broken out in rebellion and that all settlers south of the river were to gather at the Fort of Calgary for protection.’
