The Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) is looking for nominations for the Canadian Beef Industry Award for Outstanding Research and Innovation. The award, established by the council in 2015, recognizes a researcher or scientist who has contributed to the competitiveness or sustainability of the Canadian beef industry, the council’s website states.
Eligible nominees include citizens or landed immigrants actively involved in research within the last five years. Research must benefit the beef industry and align with industry priorities. Areas of research can include anything from ag economics to genetics to social licence.
Any stakeholder in the Canadian beef industry can submit nominations. The BCRC assembles the selection committee, which includes retired beef researchers, beef producers and industry experts.
If a nominee isn’t selected, the BCRC will keep the nomination on file for up to two additional years. Nominators may revise and resubmit the nomination.
The nomination deadline is May 1. Email nominations to [email protected].
