Beef Cattle Research Council webinars underway

Management: News Roundup from the October 2019 issue of Canadian Cattlemen

The Beef Cattle Research Council launches its webinar season this month, starting with a session on feed testing on October 30.

That first session will feature Karin Schmid of the Alberta Beef Producers and Megan Van Schaik of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Schmid and Van Schaik will cover everything from interpreting feed analysis reports to collecting feed samples.

Other webinars will cover reducing disease in newborn calves, supplementing the cow herd, assessing winterkill of forage, external parasites and more. Each webinar is slated for 7 p.m. mountain standard time.

There are no charges for the webinars, thanks to guest speakers who volunteer their time and funding through the Canadian Beef Cattle Check-Off and Canada’s Beef Science Cluster.

Webinars are scheduled through to March, concluding with a discussion on new tools to help producers make forage production decisions on March 25. The season finale features Tamara Carter of the Saskatchewan Forage Council and Brenna Grant of CanFax. For more information visit beefresearch.ca.
