I am still looking for old pictures!!! Here is one — it is a Bull Class, but what year and where? Think way back!

In the picture that ran in our December, 2009 issue the two fellows sitting on a front porch were Rodney James and Don Pochylko, at a field day at Charwil Ranch, Pembroke, Ont., in the seventies.

Following hot on the heels of last month’s release of the spring 2010 Canadian Charolais Growth Evaluation, the CCA breed improvement committee has released the Spring 2010 Genetic Evaluation results for Carcass traits. For the first time ultrasound data is included in the calculation of carcass EPDs. This methodology allows collection of carcass quality data on animals that are to be retained as breeding stock allowing breeders to make more informed selection decisions for animals with improved carcass quality.

In the carcass competition at The Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock, Ont. the first two places were taken by Pinzgauer steers. The steers were owned by Carl Wilcox and Bill Stevenson, respectively. The competition featured 20 animals of various breeds and all animals were processed by Norwich Packers.
