WINNIPEG, March 18 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Canada and the United States will temporarily close the border between the two countries to all non-essential travel. Tourists and shoppers will now be barred from crossing, while goods will still continue to move in an effort to lessen the impact on the integrated North American economy.

– The government of Canada is also set to announce an aid package worth at least C$25 billion to help deal with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting efforts to slow its spread.

– U.S. primaries to pick the Democratic challenger ahead of the country’s presidential election were still held in three states on Tuesday – Illinois, Florida and Arizona. Former Vice President Joe Biden won in all three against Senator Bernie Sanders. Turnout was down sharply due to the coronavirus pandemic.
