Global Markets: Trump, Xi to talk at G20

WINNIPEG, June 28 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to hold a one-on-one meeting at the G20 summit in Japan this weekend. Analysts are uncertain what will come of the meeting, as the two countries remain at odds over a number of trade issues.

– A heat wave in Europe has seen temperatures in France climb to their highest levels on record. The mercury climbed as high as 45C in the southern part of the country on Friday, according to weather reports.

– Canada’s gross domestic product increased by 0.3 per cent in April, according to a report from Statistics Canada. The GDP growth beat expectations, but was slightly slower than the 0.5 per cent increase reported the previous month.
