– The United Nations’ World Food Program has won the Nobel Peace Prize for its work in combating hunger. The agency provided assistance to an estimated 100 million people in 88 countries last year, bringing food to areas in conflict at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered commercial transportation.
– Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to truce talks in Moscow in an effort to ease the tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region that have escalated over the past few weeks. Hundreds of people have died in the fighting, including at least one Canadian-Armenian – Krisdapor Artin.
