Fireway and Melbourne: They gave Western Canada its start in light horse breeding

‘Western horsemen, and particularly those among them who are interested in the light horse, have kept alive a tradition of two great horses, Fireway and Melbourne, which were imported to Western Canada in the early days by the Hudson’s Bay Company for the improvement of the breed of buffalo-runners.’
