“Shorty” Hardwick (a tribute to an old friend)
by Slim Marsden
‘It was with very deep regret that we learned of the passing, on March 6th, of John de Helley Hardwick. “Shorty”, as he is remembered by all who knew him, died at the home of his brother Douglas Hardwick in Calgary, ending the career of a colorful and highly respected son of the open ranges…
We, who are left, honor the memory of one of these valiant souls. “Shorty” Hardwick, a true and loyal companion, scholar, soldier and cowboy, has hung up his boots and his saddle and gone forth to his last roundup on his final and greatest adventure.’
