<p>Virden saw 2,700 cattle through the ring this week. Ninety per cent of the cattle on offer were feeders, nine per cent fresh calves and one per cent butcher cattle. Forty per cent of cattle went to southern Alberta, and local, Eastern and American buyers took 20 per cent each. </p>



<p>Strong market this week, with very aggressive bidding in all classes. Looks to be a long-term trend. Next week we&#8217;ll be featuring the Manitoba/Saskatchewan Livestock Auction Championships &#8212; it&#8217;s going to be  a great sale!</p>



<p>Steer prices:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>400-500 lb. ranged from $440-$510.</li>



<li>500-600 lb. ranged from $420-$480.</li>



<li>600-700 lb. ranged from $380-$420.</li>



<li>700-800 lb. ranged from $340-$380.</li>



<li>800-1,000 lb. ranged from $310-$330.</li>
</ul>



<p>Heifer prices:</p>

<li>400-500 lb. ranged from $370-$450.</li>



<li>500-600 lb. ranged from $360-$143.50</li>



<li>600-700 lb. ranged from $320-$362.</li>



<li>700-800 lb. ranged from $295-$334.</li>



<li>800-1,000 lb. ranged from $290-$317.</li>
</ul>



<p>Bulls ranged from $155 to $180, cows from $145 to $170.</p>

<p>Virden saw 2,480 cattle through the ring this week. The majority (90 per cent) were feeders, but about seven per cent were fresh calves and three per cent butcher cattle. Forty per cent of the cattle went to southern Alberta, and 20 per cent each to the East, U.S. and to local buyers. </p>



<p>Very active trade this week on top-cut cattle. Good demand for replacement heifers. Looks like there&#8217;s lots of long-term strength in these market trends. </p>



<p>Keep your cattle clean, castrate correctly. </p>



<p>Steer prices follow:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>400-500 lb. trading from $360-$450.</li>



<li>500-600 lb. trading from $390 to $430.</li>



<li>600-700 lb. trading from $320 to $365.</li>



<li>700-800 lb. trading from $310 to $355.</li>



<li>800-1,000 lb. trading from $270 to $317.</li>
</ul>



<p>Heifer prices:</p>

<li>500-600 lb. trading from $320 to $365.</li>

</ul>



<p>Cows traded for $110 to $130, and bulls for $150 to $175.</p>
