WINNIPEG, Aug. 30 (MarketsFarm) The Canadian dollar was stronger Friday morning, with solid gross domestic product data behind some of the strength.
At 8:49 CDT Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7541 or C$1.3261 which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7521 or C$1.3296.
Canada’s GDP grew by 0.9 per cent in the second quarter, after only moving up by 0.1 per cent the previous two quarters, according to a Statistics Canada report. The annual rate of inflation of 3.7 per cent came in well above market expectations.
The TSX was stronger Friday morning, up 22.55 points at 8:49 CDT to sit at 16,407.04.
