WINNIPEG, Feb. 5 (MarketsFarm) The Canadian dollar was lower on Wednesday, after remaining largely steady for most of the week.
At 8:35 CST, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7517 or C$1.3303, which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7531 or C$1.3285.
Reports from China’s state TV have reported that a university has found a drug to treat people infected with the coronavirus. Stock indexes started the morning in the green, boosted by this positive news. However, the World Health Organization has said “there is no specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the virus,” according to Yahoo Finance.
The TSX was higher at 8:45 CST, up by 110.85 points at 17,623.76. The S&P 500 Index was up 32.40 points to hit 3,328.60. The Dow Jones gained 258.37 points at 28,790.48. The NASDAQ also increased, up 89.56 to hit 9,474.14.
