China seeks improved ties with Canada amid rising trade tensions

China called on Friday for steps to improve bilateral ties with Canada, saying there were no deep-seated conflicts of interest, following a spike in trade tensions with many of Beijing’s Western trade partners this year.

I have not seen the estimated dollar value of the total finished project. Are we as taxpayers of Canada expected to fund more than 50 per cent of this project? There must be much more than a group of 30 farmers from oil-rich southwestern Manitoba behind this project who put up another $5 million of their own capital, or this operation fails as did tomatoes in the Waskada area. — Dan Gullett

Yes, these people are consuming these unpasteurized products at their own risk and that is their right. But I’ll bet they won’t hesitate to come to the publicly-funded health care system when they become ill from these self-inflicted and unnecessary risks. Hello people! Do the so-called potential benefits really outweigh the significant risks you are taking? — Christine Dierker
