Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Declines all around

WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar stayed steady on Thursday as it gets close to 80 cents United States.

As of 8:51 a.m. CDT, the loonie was at US$0.7991 or US$1=C$1.2514, compared to US$0.7996 or US$1=C$1.2506 when markets closed on Wednesday.

Crude oil declined slightly on Thursday. Brent crude oil slipped five cents per barrel to US$71.39. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) decreased five cents to US$69.20/barrel. Western Canadian Select (WCS) dropped US$0.38 to US$55.78/barrel.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index lost 80.23 points at 20,473.78.

Gold retreated US$4.47 per ounce to US$1,747.23.
