WINNIPEG, Oct. 4 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was stronger Monday morning, boosted by gains in crude oil.
At 9:04 a.m. CDT Monday morning, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7947 or US$1=C$1.2689 which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7903 or US$1=C$1.2654.
In domestic data, the total value of building permits issued in Canada decreased by 2.1 per cent to August, hitting C$9.7 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 1.7 per cent at US$77.55 per barrel.
The TSX was weaker, down 14.38 points at 9:04 CDT, trading at 20,136.49 points.
