Canadians attending the Congresso Ganadero de las Estrellas in Mexico.

A number of Canadian beef producers along with breed association representatives attended the 2022 Congresso Ganadero de las Estrellas — which means Livestock Congress of the Stars in Spanish. Held at Cortijo Los Fernández Tonala, Jalisco Mexico, March 23-27, 2022, the event met all expectations, drawing some of the very best livestock from Northern Mexico. It was combined with rodeo events and other activities including school tours, an artisan and craft show, and featured an international presence from four continents.

Attending from Canada were Simmental general manager Bruce Holmquist, and Hereford executive director Stephen Scott, both representing Canadian Western Agribition. Myles Immerkar (Angus CEO) and Sheldon Kyle (Angus president) also attended, along with Leah Jones, Stacey Felkar and Arlindo Gomes representing FarmFair International. While attending the Livestock Congress, they met with Canada’s trade representatives from the Guadalajara office.
