Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, Aug. 9 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was holding steady Tuesday morning, lacking any clear direction as the currency saw some stability after Monday’s gains.
At 8:58 a.m. CDT Tuesday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7780 or US$1=C$1.2853, which compares with Monday’s close of US$0.7778 or US$1=C$1.2857.
Crude oil was firmer in early activity, providing some support for the energy-linked Canadian dollar. West Texas Intermediate was up by 0.99 per cent at US$91.66 per barrel.
The TSX was down by 47.90 points at 8:58 CDT, trading at 19,621.27 points.
