– One suspect is dead while another is still on the run after a string of fatal stabbings in Saskatchewan on Sunday. Ten people were killed during the attacks in various locations in the province, while 18 more were injured. Damien Sanderson, one of the suspects, was found dead in James Smith Cree Nation on Monday, while his brother Myles Sanderson is still at large. Myles faces three counts of first-degree murder; Damien had been charged with one count of first-degree murder. Both men also were charged with attempted murder and break and enter. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued an alert in all three Prairie provinces.

– Liz Truss officially became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Tuesday in a ceremony with Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Moments earlier, Truss’ predecessor Boris Johnson formally resigned in an audience with the Queen. Truss becomes the third female PM in the UK’s history after fellow Conservatives Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May. She plans on capping Brits’ energy bills at a cost of up to £100 billion (C$152 billion), according to news reports.
– The Liberal cabinet will conduct three days of meetings in Vancouver starting Monday to determine the government’s policies for the fall session of the House of Commons, which is expected to begin on Sept. 19. The rising cost of living and the state of the economy are expected to be the top priorities, with the Liberals also determined to meet the approval of the New Democratic Party (NDP). Earlier this year, the Liberals and New Democrats agreed to a deal where the latter will support the government on confidence votes until 2025 in exchange for the implementation of certain policies, such as universal dental care.
