Meanwhile, reports that dozens of Russian troops staying in a temporary barracks in Donetsk were shot down by Ukrainian strikes were reportedly leading to internal Russian criticism of the situation.
- The United States Congress is set to vote in their new Speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, with a split in the Republican Party raising questions over whether Rep. Kevin McCarthy will get the nod. The new Speaker of the House will replace Democrat Nancy Pelosi.
- The funeral for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will be held at the Vatican on Thursday. The former pope, 95, retired from his role in 2013 – marking the first to do so in 600 years. His body will lay in state in St. Peter’s Basilica, with thousands expected to pay their respects.
