- Dozens of Russian drone attacks on Ukraine overnight killed at least four people, as Russia’s offensive intensified ahead of the country’s Victory Day holiday on May 9. All 60 of the Iranian-made kamikaze drones, including 36 fired at Kyiv, were reportedly shot down by Ukrainian defenses, although debris fell and caused damage.
- Representatives of warring Sudanese factions were holding talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in an attempt to deal with humanitarian issues and end the conflict that has killed hundreds over the past few weeks. Thousands of people have also left the African nation, with many more looking to leave.
