– Another 32 Canadians were cleared to leave the Gaza Strip and enter Egypt on Thursday and 266 more will be allowed to do the same on Friday. As of late Thursday, 550 Canadians were still hoping to leave the territory. Israeli airstrikes hit Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest on Friday, killing one person and wounding others. Two more hospitals in Gaza were also hit, with Israel claiming that Hamas has tunnels underneath hospitals, schools and mosques. Israel agreed on Thursday to implement daily four-hour pauses in fighting in order to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.

– United States President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet in San Francisco at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit on Wednesday. It will be the first time both leaders will meet face-to-face in almost a year. The two are expected to discuss trade, the fraught relations between the two nations and China’s influence on North Korea among other topics. Thousands of protesters are also expected to descend onto the event.
– Canopy Growth Corporation, at one time Canada’s largest cannabis business, reported a net loss of C$324.8 million in the second quarter, compared with C$305.8 million in Q2 last year. The company’s net loss from continuing operations was C$148.2 million during the quarter while revenue totalled C$82.1 million. In September, the company obtained creditor protection for BioSteel Sports Nutrition Inc. and intends to sell the sports drink brand. One month earlier, Canopy announced it will sell back the Hershey building in Smith Falls, Ont. to the chocolate maker for C$53 million.
