The 2023 World Angus Technical meeting was hosted September 8-15 by the Czech Aberdeen Angus Association. The event featured the official World Angus Secretariat membership meeting, an educational forum, a national show and tours of Angus cattle farms throughout Czechia. More than 200 Angus enthusiasts from 32 countries participated.
The Canadian delegation was well-represented with Alberta attendees Myles and Sharon Immerkar, Canadian Angus Association, Calgary; Kirk Wildman, Towaw Cattle Company, Sangudo, Alta.; Earl and Debra Scott, Scott Stock Farms, Crossfield, Alta.; and Andres Arteaga, Bova-Tech, Airdrie, Alta.; Bob and Marjorie Blacklock of Saskatoon, Sask.; and Tanya and Monty Belsham, Poplar Meadows Angus of Houston, B.C.
The Czech Angus herd was heavily influenced by Canadian Black and Red Angus genetics that stemmed back to the country’s first importation of Canadian genetics 30 years ago. During the event, both Wildman and Arteaga were able to view offspring from embryos or sires stemming from their herds or business.
