As of April 16, 2024, the Canadian Angus Association is taking responsibility for collecting and preparing DNA samples for genomic testing. After submitting genomic test requests (parentage, Angus GS, etc.), producers can begin sending properly collected and stored DNA samples (hair, TSU, blood cards, semen) to the office immediately. Mail DNA samples to the association office at Genomic Services, Canadian Angus Association, 292140 Wagon Wheel Blvd., Rocky View County, Alta., T4A 0E2. Members can also drop off DNA samples at the Canadian Angus Association office during regular business hours (7:30 a.m.– 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Friday).
On the provincial front, the Alberta Angus Association recently welcomed Jody Scheirlinck as the new office administrator. Scheirlinck works with her husband and two boys in their purebred Angus and Hereford operation and brings several years of administrative and industry experience to the association.
