Global Markets: Russia detains bombing suspect

  • Russia has detained a suspect in the bombing of that killed a senior general in Moscow on Tuesday. The suspect was not named but was described as an Uzbek citizen recruited by Ukrainian intelligence officials.

 

  • Canadians receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits increased by only 0.1 per cent in October, with the number of recipients up 4.7 per cent annually, reported Statistics Canada. The country’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.5 per cent in October.

 

  • Israeli attacks across Gaza saw at least 38 people killed and 203 wounded over the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to the Gazan Health Ministry. Israel has ordered another evacuation in central Gaza ahead of an expected offensive operation in the area. Meanwhile, ceasefire talks have restarted after a month-long break.
