- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday at the White House. The Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting will be an opportunity to discuss next year’s review of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement and tariff relief. In particular, levies on aluminum, steel, automobiles and lumber.
- The Trump administration is reportedly prepared on Tuesday to announce bailout program for U.S. soybean growers of at least US$10 billion. The president’s tariff war and rising costs of production have seen growers financially struggle. China has yet to buy any U.S. soybeans in 2025/26.

- After a one-month delay, Trump said on Monday that he will slap a 25 per cent tariff on all imports of foreign-made medium and heavy-duty trucks come Nov. 1. Initially, the surcharge was to have been imposed on Oct. 1. As with previous duties, Trump claimed the tariffs are necessary under national security provisions.
- With France on the precipice of political chaos, President Emmanuel Macron asked outgoing Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu to remain on the job until Wednesday. Reports said on Tuesday that Macron would either resign or call a snap parliamentary election should Lecornu fail to breach the political impasse that led him to resign on Monday.
- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke with Trump on the phone for 30 minutes on Monday. The reportedly amicable call came after a summer of strained relations between Brazil and the U.S. over Trump imposing 50 per cent tariffs on Brazilian imports.
