Winnipeg, August 28 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar
strengthened against its U.S. counterpart Tuesday morning, pushed
higher by news of a trade deal between Mexico and the United States.
Gains in gold bullion were also supportive for the loonie while
recent advances in crude oil added to the upside.
At 8:55 CDT Tuesday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7751
or C$1.2902, which compares with Monday’s North American close of
US$0.7701 or C$1.2986.
At 8:55 CDT Tuesday morning, the TSX was up 88.34 points, or
0.54%, at 16,444.39.
