WINNIPEG, Sep. 25 (CNS Canada) The Canadian dollar was holding steady Tuesday morning, as currency traders watch for developments from ongoing NAFTA talks.

At 10:04 CDT Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7723 or C$1.2948 which compares with Monday’s North American close of US$0.7731 or C$1.2935.

The NAFTA negotiations are facing a deadline at the end of the month, with little progress reported to date.

Crude oil was firmer Tuesday morning, providing some underlying support for the energy-linked Canadian currency.

The TSX was stronger at 10:04 CDT, up 63.82 points at 16,271.14.
