Global markets: US job growth stronger

WINNIPEG, February 3 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

– US job growth advanced more than expected in January, according to reports out of the country on Friday.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 227,000 jobs last month, which is the biggest advance in four months, the American labour department said.

– The Bank of England expects growth to reach two per cent this year, market watchers say, which is up from its previously estimated 1.4 per cent.
