WINNIPEG, February 28 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– Canada’s Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) rose 0.4 per cent in January, mainly due to higher prices for energy and petroleum products. The Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI) increased 1.7 per cent, led by higher prices for animals and animal products, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.
That was slightly below analyst expectations for 0.5 per cent growth for industrial prices.
– US economic growth was slower in the fourth quarter, according to reports out of the country on Tuesday.
American gross domestic product advanced at a 1.9 per cent annual rate in the last three months of 2016.
