– US housing starts dropped in April, the country’s commerce department said on Tuesday, notching the biggest decline in three years.
US housing starts fell 6.8 per cent to a seasonally adjusted 1.22 million units.
– Canadian refineries received 8.7 million cubic metres of crude oil in January, up 4.7 per cent from the same month in 2016, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.
Domestic crude oil increased 1.4 per cent compared with January 2016 to 5.5 million cubic metres.
– Foreign investment in Canadian securities reached a record high C$38.8 billion in February, led by issuances of new Canadian shares to non-resident investors. At the same time, Canadian investors acquired C$6.3 billion of foreign securities, mainly US instruments, StatsCan said in a separate report on Tuesday.
