– America’s trade gap fell 0.1 per cent to US$43.7 billion in March, according to reports out of the country on Thursday.
Declines in imports and exports were responsible for the dip.
– Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world posted a C$135 million deficit in March, narrowing from a C$1.1 billion deficit in February. Exports rose 3.8 per cent in March to a record high C$47.0 billion, due to stronger exports of energy products and consumer goods. Imports were up 1.7 per cent to C$47.1 billion, mainly on higher imports of unwrought gold, Statistics Canada said in a report on Thursday.
