WINNIPEG, May 9 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– Germany’s exports advanced to a record high in March, according to reports out of the country on Tuesday.
Exports reached new highs, as they advanced 0.4 per cent in March from the month prior, reaching US$114.9 billion, Germany’s statistics office said.
– The value of building permits issued by Canadian municipalities fell 5.8 per cent to C$7.0 billion in March, marking a second consecutive monthly decrease, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.
Nationally, the decline was mainly the result of lower construction intentions for multi-family dwellings, particularly in British Columbia and Ontario. All provinces and territories, except Ontario and Quebec, registered decreases in the total value of building permits in March, StatsCan said.
