Winnipeg, October 3 (CNS) – Australia recorded a record
year for chickpeas and lentils, according to the recently
released Rural Bank 2016-17 Australian Agriculture Trade
Performance report. Legume volumes were up 85 per cent over the
past year. However the current crop is facing some weather
related challenges and industry participants expect production
to be down in 2017-18.
Turkey-based Humanitarian Relief Foundation delivered a
month’s worth of emergency food aid to 3,125 Rohingya Muslims in
Myanmar last week. Included were chickpeas, rice, oil, salt and
pepper.
Markets for most pulse crops held steady overnight in
western Canada.
