Pulse Report: Dry bean harvest almost complete in U.S.

Winnipeg, October 17 (CNS) – Dry bean harvest is almost
complete across the northern United States according to the
Northarvest Bean Growers Association. Harvest is complete in
Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Dry bean harvest is 96 per cent
complete in Minnesota, 94 per cent in North Dakota, 84 per cent
in Colorado, 79 per cent in Wyoming, 75 per cent in Nebraska and
84 per cent in Michigan.
According to the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corp. annual
seeded acreage report there was 27,231 acres of navy beans

seeded in Manitoba in 2017, down from the five-average of 35,254
acres. There was 52,048 acres of pinto beans seeded, up from the
five-year average of 40,472 acres. Cranberry bean acres as well
increased to 7,249 acres from the five-year average of 3,790
acres.
Most lentil and dry bean prices held steady overnight,
however a few decreased in price according to the Prairie Ag
Hotwire. Laird #3 lentils dropped three cents to 21 cents per
pound. Eston #3 lentils dropped three cents as well to 21 cents
per pound and Eston X3 lentils dipped two cents to 25 cents per
pound. Pinto beans dropped 1.5 cents to 27 cents per pound.
