Winnipeg, October 31 (CNS) – Pea acreage has almost doubled
over the last three years in the European Union, according to
UkrAgroConsult. The increase is due to a new agreement which
supports higher production of nitrogen-fixing crops and the
protein crop sector.
Numerous types of lentils dropped in price overnight,
according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Eston #2 and Crimson #3 dropped
one cent to 31 cents per pound and 15 cents per pound,

33 cents per pound, 23 cents per pound, 19 cents per pound, 32
cents per pound and 19 cents per pound, respectively. Richlea X3
dropped three cents in price to 23 cents per pound, and Richlea
#1 dropped four cents to 31 cents per pound.
Dry bean prices in Manitoba as well dropped in price,
according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Small red beans dropped a cent
and a half to 32 cents per pound. Both dark and light kidney
beans dropped two and a half cents in price to 40 cents per
pound each. Navy beans dropped three cents in price to 29.5
cents per pound. And Great Northern beans dropped five cents in
price to 27 cents per pound.
Chickpea variety prices were mixed, with some dropping while
others increased, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Kabuli (10
millimetre) dropped one cent to 69 cents per pound. Kabuli
(seven millimetre) dropped two cents to 41 cents per pound. Desi
#1 dropped the most at six cents to 30 cents per pound. Both
Kabuli nine and eight millimetre jumped one cent in price to 69
and 62 cents per pound, respectively.
