Pulses: Pakistani imports on the rise

Winnipeg, November 24 (CNS) – Pakistan’s food imports are on the rise. According to a report by the country’s Associated Press, imports during October of 2017 were $575 million. That compares to $469 million the previous year. Lentils and chickpeas make up a significant portion of the country’s diet.
Green pea prices in Western Canada are hanging steady at C$7.00 to C$8.25 a bushel, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
Eston #1 lentils were hanging steady at 28 to 30 cents a pound, according to the Hotwire.
Desi #1 chickpeas fell two cents and are currently going for 27 to 28 cents per pound.
Bids for black beans were hanging steady at 27 to 30.5 cents a pound.
