Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Thursday, January 14.
– CBOT corn futures were slightly lower on Thursday except for the most-active March contract which was unchanged at US$3.58 per tonne. Large world supplies and a strengthening cash market cancelled each other out.
– The Egyptian government has supplied France with letters of credit for three boats waiting to transport more than 180,000 tonnes of wheat from ports in France. The loading of the ships could have begun already but exporters were waiting for a guarantee of payment.

– Ukraine is expected to import less corn for seed than in past years due to the country’s expansion in acreage. One analyst from APK-Infom say purchases of maize seeds in 2015 was just 28.7 thousand tonnes and less could be needed for this year.
– According to a report on Blackseagrain.net, Kazakhstan exported 530.2 thousand tonnes of wheat flour in September to November of 2015. That was 4% less than during the same period last year.
– Nidera has pegged Australian wheat exports in the 16-17 million tonnes range in 2015/16. That figure is lower than the USDA’s estimate of 18 million tonnes. Last year the country exported 16.6 million tonnes.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$205 to C$214 per tonne
Feed wheat prices were in the C$220 to C$232 range. Both sets of prices are down a few dollars from the previous reporting period of December 18.
