WINNIPEG, March 4 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, March 4.
– CBOT corn futures moved higher on Friday, with the May contract up 1.75 US cents at US$3.5825 per bushel. ICE Futures Canada barley contracts also saw some light activity once again, with the July contract down C$4 at C$176 per tonne and the nearby May unchanged at C$180.
– Poor weather conditions in the fall limited winter grain seedings in parts of Ukraine, which will see the country plant more spring crops this year, according to the country’s agriculture ministry. The Ministry forecasts a 1.7 million hectare increase in spring seeded area.

– The USDA releases its latest supply/demand estimates on March 9, and average pre-report forecasts are calling for upward revisions to both the world and US carryout numbers.
– A shipment of French milling wheat that was rejected by Egypt over quality issues has been rerouted by Bunge Ltd., and will now likely end up in feed channels in Spain, according to reports.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$210 to C$214 per tonne area as of February 26, which was up by one to five dollars compared to the previous week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$225 to C$235 range, which was down by three to five dollars.
