WINNIPEG, March 18 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, March 18.
– CBOT corn futures were down by one to two cents per bushel on Friday, with chart-based selling a feature as prices backed away from their nearby highs. The May contract was down by 1.50 US cents at US$3.6700 per bushel.
– Ukrainian farmers have seeded 583,200 hectares of early spring grain as of March 18, or about a quarter of intentions, according to the country’s agriculture ministry.

– Farmers in France are also moving ahead with spring seeding, with 47 per cent of intended spring barley plantings now in the ground, according to FranceAgriMer. That’s up from 32 per cent the previous week, but still behind the 76 per cent pace seen at the same point the previous year.
– Private forecasters Informa Economics pegged US corn seedings in 2016 at 89.5 million acres, which was up from an earlier estimate from the company, but below the 90.0 million acres forecast by the USDA in February. The USDA puts out its official seeding intentions report on March 31.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$205 to C$212 per tonne area as of March 11, which was steady compared to the previous week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$228 to C$232 range, which was down by three dollars on the top end.
