Feed Grains: La Nina’s impact on northern wheat to be muted

WINNIPEG, June 1 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Wednesday, June 1.

– Although a growing number of weather watchers say a La Nina weather event will develop this summer, a new report suggests it won’t have much influence over wheat production in the Northern Hemisphere. The report on blackseagrain.net says by the time La Nina settles in, the wheat crop should be maturing and near harvest.

– Russian corn exports are on the rise. According to UKAgroConsult, in April of 2016 the country exported 677,000 tonnes of corn, which was 47% greater than the previous year.

– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$212 to C$215 per tonne range as of May 27, which was down slightly from the week before, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$235 to C$240 range, which were slightly firmer than the week before.
