WINNIPEG, August 12 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, August 12.
– Harvest operations have started in Saskatchewan, with 35 per cent of winter wheat harvested, according to Saskatchewan’s weekly crop report.
– With fears Brazil will run out of corn by 2017, the government will allow imports of genetically modified corn from the US for animal feed, according to reports.
– Cleaning of wheat and barley in France is behind schedule, according to reports. As of August 8, 76 per cent of winter wheat crops were harvested, compared to 95 per cent on the same date last year, with cleaning six days slower than the five-year average. Spring barley was 78 per cent harvested compared to 97 per cent the previous year, with cleaning five days behind the five-year average.
– Feed barley in Western Canada remained steady with top prices of C$2.70 to C$4.18 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
