WINNIPEG, Sept. 20 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, September 20.
– CBOT corn futures settled with small gains on Tuesday, as a rally in soybeans pulled values higher. The December contract was up three cents at US$3.4050 per bushel.
– Canadian barley production in 2016/17 was estimated at 8.4 million tonnes by Statistics Canada in updated model-based estimates using satellite imagery. That would be down from the 8.7 million tonnes forecast in the August survey-based report, but still above the 8.2 million tonnes grown the previous year.

– Russia’s barley harvest is nearing completion, with 18.2 million tonnes harvested off of 93 per cent of the seeded area. Total production is expected to be up 9 per cent on the year, with exports increasing by as much as 20 per cent, according to UkrAgroConsult.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$165 per tonne range as of September 16, which was down by as much as C$5 per tonne from the previous week. Feed wheat prices posted similar losses, to range from C$178 to C$190 in Lethbridge.
