Winnipeg, May 19 – Bids for kabuli chickpeas (10mm) on the Canadian Prairies are holding firm, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Prices are listed at 69 to 70 cents per pound.
Crimson number three lentils fell two cents during the past week and are now locked in a range of 16 to 21 cents per pound.
Yellow peas declined 10 cents on the week and are now in a range of C$7.83 to C$9.60 per bushel.
According to Manitoba Pulse, field pea seeding in the province began in late April and has mostly wrapped up. Fababean planting has also finished and producers are being encouraged to undertake early season weed control, rather than a pre-seed burnoff. Manitoba Pulse also says pea acres are expected to be lower in 2017 compared to the year previous.
