Winnipeg, October 25 (CNS) – Following are a few highlights
in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Wednesday,
October 25.
According to a recently published study in Global Food
Security much less grain than previously thought is required to
produce one kilogram of meat. The study results said on average
three kilograms of grain is required to produce one kilogram of
meat. A previous study had said it would take anywhere from six
to 20 kilograms of feed to produce one kilogram of beef.

According to UkrAgroConsult as of Oct. 23 half of Ukraine’s
corn crop was harvested. As well barley harvest is drawing to a
close in Ukraine with yields having increased by 18.7 per cent
from last year.
Feed barley prices dropped 30 cents in Saskatchewan
overnight according to Prairie Ag Hotwire to $3.35 per bushel.
Feed barley prices in Manitoba however held steady overnight but
have rose 15 cents over the last week to $3.55 per bushel.
Feed wheat prices for the most part across the Prairies are
holding steady according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Although feed
wheat prices in Saskatchewan increased five cents over the week
to $4.85 per bushel.
