Feed Grains: Indian wheat planting lagging

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Monday, Jan. 8.
Grain stockpiles are growing bigger in Russia. According to a report by UkrAgroConsult, grain stocks totalled 52.56 million tonnes on December, which was nearly 16 per cent more than last year.
Wheat planting in India is down by 4.77 per cent during the current rabi season, according to a report by Outlook India. The shortfall is largely being found in the key states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The rabi season begins in October and usually wraps up in March.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were locked in a range of C$220 to C$225 per tonne, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices were roughly the same at C$219 to C$225 per tonne.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade finished three cents lower on Monday in technical trading. Weekly export inspection numbers were near 850,000 tonnes, which was slightly above market expectations. Mexico bought 102,000 tonnes of corn from the U.S.
Oat prices in Saskatchewan were holding steady at C$2.30 to C$3.08 per bushel, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
