WINNIPEG, Jan. 5 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar was stronger on Thursday, as gains in crude oil and other commodities provided support.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7552 or US$1=C$1.3242, which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7514, or US$1=C$1.3308.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was stronger on Thursday, gaining 69.83 points, or 0.5%, to close at 15,586.58.
     Canada’s agricultural sector faired as follows:
     AGT Food and Ingredients—–dn  $ 0.03        at $ 36.23
     Agrium Incorporated———-dn  $ 0.27        at $137.10
     Buhler Industries————    $ 0.00        at $  4.64
     Maple Leaf Foods————-dn  $ 0.08        at $ 27.72
     Potash Corp. of Sask———dn  $ 0.14        at $ 24.83
