Manitoba’s agriculture department is still publishing its weekly crop condition, insect and disease updates, but don’t look for them on the department’s website.
A publication ban is in place on government websites during the run-up to Manitoba’s provincial election on Oct. 4. However, the department’s latest updates are available in our CropWatch feature here.

Most of Manitoba harvest wraps up for 2025
Manitoba Agriculture issued its final crop report of 2025, showing the overall provincewide harvest at 97 per cent complete as of Oct. 20. Nearly all major crops have finished combining, with 37 per cent of Manitoba’s sunflowers finished, plus 71 per cent of grain corn and small amounts of soybeans and potatoes left to do.
- a report on “below-average” insect activity in Alberta, although producers are warned to keep a close eye on wheat midge in their fields this coming week.
- a report on late blight, which hasn’t yet appeared in Manitoba, Minnesota or North Dakota but is worth watching for in tomato and potato crops.
