Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook

WINNIPEG, Nov. 15 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar is virtually unchanged Thursday morning.

At 8:37 CST Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7557 or C$1.3229, which compares with Wednesday’s North American close of US$0.7556 or C$1.3235.

Ontario Minister of Finance Victor Fedeli will deliver a mini-budget at 12:15 CST Thursday afternoon to highlight the province’s financial situation. Ontario’s deficit stands at C$15 billion and its net debt is C$338 billion, the highest debt for a sub-sovereign borrower rated by Moody’s Investor Service.

Oil prices Thursday morning were up slightly. West Texas Intermediate crude this morning stood at US$56.42 per barrel after closing yesterday at US$56.25 per barrel.

Gold is up Thursday morning to US$1,215.00 per ounce from yesterday’s close of US$1,210.10 per ounce.

The Toronto TSX/S&P Composite Index was up 16.78 points Thursday morning shortly after open at 15,146.90.
